Formula 1 Betting

what dos computational fluid dynamics mean (CFD)?
Renault are building there Formula 1 bass up and this is what they are betting on $50 mil worth
peaceax gave a pretty good description and example of CFD.
Renault is spending the money to build up their CFD facility to calculate the aerodynamics of their cars on computer generated models of their car designs instead of building additional wind tunnels to test their designs on physical models. This is being done at their Formula 1 factory indicating that they are in the Formula 1 industry for the long haul. CFD modeling can also be used on commercial autos as well, but the aerodynamic requirements for them are much less critical than in the high speed race cars.
Aerodynamic drag increases with the square of the speed and the power to maintain the speed increases with the cube of the speed. Using CFD they can calculate things like fuel efficiency and engine power much more accurately, but possibly even more important is the need to maintain stability at high speeds. It’s not good for a Formula 1 car to flip over when it hits the turbulence behind a car it is overtaking on the straight-away. So CFD can help them determine optimum spoiler and ground effects shape to achieve the best stability at high speeds and under variable conditions.
They could do it without the addtional CFD capability and make more scale models, but that can be labor intensive and time consuming, especially if you want to make small tweaks.

Fortune’s Formula: The Untold Story of the Scientific Betting System $16.99 In 1956 two Bell Labs scientists discovered the scientific formula for getting rich. One was mathematician Claude Shannon, neurotic father of our digital age, whose genius is ranked with Einstein’s. The other was John L. Kelly Jr., a Texas-born, gun-toting physicist. Together they applied the science of information theory–the basis of computers and the Internet–to the problem of making as much m… |

Betting Exchange $60.54 A betting exchange is a form of bookmaking in which the operator offsets its risk perfectly through technology, such that the effect to the customer is that customers are seen to bet between themselves. Coined because of its apparent similarities to a stock exchange it is often defined as a stock exchange for bets it is therefore commonly seen as a peertopeer gambling website, when in fact it is more closely described as manytomany. Equally, it is often suggested, or commonly believed, that the operator is merely acting as a broker between parties for the placement of bets, rather than a bookmaker, although the reality is that bets are being accepted and offered simultaneously through the exchanges technological interface. Since it is only the exchange operator who holds a bookmakers licence in most cases, the legal and licencing requirements invariably dictate that the legal contract for all bets be with the operator itself and not between customers. Most betting on a betting exchange has been a form of fixed odds gambling, although recently the phenomenon was also briefly established in the sports spread betting market.
